Perfume is one of the trickier categories to return — hygiene rules mean most UK retailers won’t accept an opened bottle back, whatever the reason. Here’s what your actual legal rights are, and what to check before you buy from any Arabian perfume retailer.
Your baseline legal right
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, UK shoppers have the right to cancel most online purchases within 14 days of delivery, for any reason. This applies regardless of which retailer you buy from — it’s a legal minimum, not a goodwill gesture.
The catch: hygiene products
Perfume falls into the same category as other hygiene-sealed goods. In practice, this means the 14-day right to cancel still applies, but the bottle needs to be unopened and in its original condition to actually get a refund. Once the seal is broken, most retailers — us included — can only accept returns if the item arrived faulty, damaged, or wrong.
Our policy, in short
14 days to return, unopened and in original packaging. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items are covered regardless, with a 48-hour window to report the issue and photos where possible. Full detail is in our Returns & Refunds Policy.
What to check before buying elsewhere
Policies genuinely vary by retailer beyond the legal minimum — some charge return postage, some don’t; some offer exchanges beyond faulty items, some don’t. Always check the specific returns page before you buy, especially for a full-price bottle, rather than assuming every retailer matches the legal baseline exactly.
