The Question Almost Everyone Gets Wrong
Most people either under-apply out of politeness or over-apply trying to make a fragrance last — both miss the actual answer, which depends more on concentration and pulse points than a fixed number.
The General Rule
For an Eau de Parfum (EDP) — which is what most Reef and Lattafa fragrances are — 2 to 4 sprays is typically enough for all-day wear. That’s noticeably fewer sprays than most people assume, because EDPs carry a higher fragrance oil concentration than an EDT, so a little genuinely does go further.
Where to Actually Spray
- Wrists — classic pulse point, easy to reapply through the day if needed.
- Neck/base of throat — body heat here helps the fragrance develop properly.
- Inside elbows — an underused pulse point that projects well without being overwhelming up close.
- Clothing (with care) — fabric holds fragrance oils longer than skin, but test on an inconspicuous area first, as some deeper-coloured oils can mark light fabrics.
Why More Isn’t Better
Over-application doesn’t actually make a fragrance last significantly longer — it mostly makes it stronger and more overwhelming to people around you, which is the opposite of what most people actually want from fragrance. Two to four well-placed sprays of a genuinely long-lasting EDP will comfortably outperform six or seven sprays applied carelessly.
