Baccarat Rouge 540 Alternatives UK: The Closest Arabic Perfumes Under £25

Lattafa Ana Abiyedh Rouge eau de parfum 100ml bottle

The closest match to Baccarat Rouge 540 in our range is Lattafa Ana Abiyedh Rouge (£22.00 for 100ml). It is the Lattafa fragrance most often compared with the Maison Francis Kurkdjian original, because it follows a similar jasmine, cedar and ambergris structure. It is not an exact copy, and no honest guide would claim that. This page explains what Baccarat Rouge 540 actually smells like, how close Arabic alternatives really get, and which two other scents are worth trying if you love that sweet, airy amber style.

Search data and product details on this page were checked on 16 October 2026. Prices and stock can change, so confirm them on each product page.

Why Baccarat Rouge 540 is the UK’s most searched perfume

Scento’s October 2026 analysis of Ahrefs data puts Baccarat Rouge 540 at around 95,000 monthly UK searches, ahead of Dior Sauvage at around 84,000. That is the highest single-country figure in the study. Two caveats matter: Ahrefs volumes are modelled estimates, and the figure counts searches for the perfume itself, not only people looking for a dupe or alternative. Even so, it explains why so many shoppers now ask what comes close without the niche price tag. You can read the full Scento study here.

What Baccarat Rouge 540 smells like

Maison Francis Kurkdjian describes it as a woody, ambery floral. The listed notes are jasmine and saffron on top, cedarwood in the heart and an ambergris accord in the base, as shown in the house’s description as reproduced by Dillard’s. Some retailers also list amberwood and fir resin. What most people notice is a sweet but airy amber with a clean, almost mineral shine.

That sweet-meets-mineral quality is the hard part to copy. A fragrance can be sweet and ambery without having that glassy, salty-ambergris edge.

Four checks for a good Baccarat Rouge 540 alternative

  • A saffron and jasmine character at the start, rather than a purely fruity or candy opening.
  • An ambergris-style base: a slightly salty, musky sweetness rather than plain vanilla.
  • Dry cedar or woods that stop the sweetness turning sticky.
  • Strong, lasting projection. Power is not the same as similarity, though: a loud amber is not automatically a close match.

The three picks

1. Lattafa Ana Abiyedh Rouge: closest in our range

Our product page lists top notes of nashi pear, kumquat and bergamot, a heart of caramel, jasmine and cedar, and a base of musk, wood and ambergris. It describes a sweet, salty-ambergris composition that fragrance reviewers frequently place within striking distance of the original, especially in the drydown.

Where it is close: the jasmine, cedar and ambergris spine, and a sweet-salty amber finish. Where it differs: the opening is fruitier than the original because of the pear and kumquat, and the caramel makes the whole scent rounder and sweeter. Saffron is part of the character described on our page, but it is not in the listed pyramid, so do not expect it to lead.

Our page lists moderate to strong performance, typically around six hours, with good sillage. It suits evenings and the cooler months best. For the rest of the family, see our Ana Abiyedh collection guide.

2. Lattafa Sheikh Al Shuyukh Luxe: saffron and an ambroxan base

This is not sold as a Baccarat Rouge 540 comparison; fragrance communities compare it with Lattafa’s own Oud Mood. We include it because it shares two ideas with the original’s world: saffron in the top and an ambroxan base (a modern ambergris-style molecule, explained in our ambroxan guide). The top notes are cinnamon bark, rose and saffron, the heart is caramel and patchouli, and the base is vanilla, amber and ambroxan.

Expect something rosier, spicier and more cinnamon-led than Baccarat Rouge 540. Choose it if you want the saffron-and-amber mood in a warmer, more winter-leaning style.

3. Lattafa Oud Mood: for the Kurkdjian polish

Oud Mood is compared with Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Oud Satin Mood, a different perfume from the same house, not with Baccarat Rouge 540. It earns a place here for shoppers who like Kurkdjian’s smooth, polished style and want an oud-leaning version at £18.00. Notes on our page are nutmeg, cinnamon and saffron on top, sandalwood, oud wood and leather in the heart, and vanilla and amber in the base. Our page lists strong wear, typically six to eight hours.

It is noticeably woodier and darker than Baccarat Rouge 540. If your priority is the airy, jasmine-led sweetness, stay with Ana Abiyedh Rouge.

What an alternative will not replicate

Be realistic. The original’s luminous, mineral sheen comes from a specific composition and is difficult to match at a fraction of the price. Our descriptions draw on the notes listed on each product page and widely shared community comparisons. We have not run laboratory comparisons, and skin chemistry changes how any amber wears. Treat “alternative” as “same neighbourhood”, not “same house”. For the wider story, read our explainer on clones, dupes and perfume twins.

How to choose before you buy

Opened perfume cannot be returned unless it is faulty or damaged (see our returns policy), so it pays to compare before you order. Our comparison tool and Find My Perfume let you check notes side by side, and our guide on how to tell if a perfume will suit you before buying online covers the rest. To browse by note, try saffron perfumes under £25, rose and saffron perfumes or amber and vanilla perfumes.

Also buy from a seller that stands behind authenticity. Our guides to spotting fake Lattafa perfume and checking a batch code explain what to look for.
